Innovation Week at Yuriy Fedkovich Chernivtsi National University

The Innovation Week is an event organised within the framework of the ILCA project supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) and Climate-KIC).
About 70 students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Geography, the Educational and Research Institute of Biology, Chemistry and Bioresources and other university departments registered to participate in the Innovation Week.

As part of the opening of the Innovation Week, team interactions were held aimed at generating business ideas to achieve sustainable development goals, namely environmental innovation. The teams were tasked with participating in ECOTON, a marathon of innovative business ideas with a caring attitude to the environment.
The students had the opportunity to network with entrepreneurs implementing innovative environmental projects, as well as visit the Chernivtsi office of the international IT company SoftServe and find out about the implementation of the Environmental Sustainability programme.

The participants of the Innovation Week presented 9 eco-business ideas related to the recycling and disposal of plastic and car tyres, the production of eco-friendly detergents from horse chestnut, the creation of reusable paper from waste, the production of fibre from hemp, and others.
The winner of the competition was the ECO-HUB startup by students of the Faculty of Economics, who presented their business ideas on the international platform of the ILCA project. ECO-HUB is a project that aims to teach environmentally friendly behaviour. The team focused on recycling and creating prostheses for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
