Innovation Week at VTDK

On 5-8 December, 2022, Vilnius College of Technologies and Design organized an Innovation Week

The Innovation Week was an event aimed at strengthening the ability of our students to develop innovative, climate-neutral solutions based on market developments. It was an excellent opportunity to start gathering and sharing experience and knowledge with the help of project mentors and academic staff of the College. The event was opened with a welcoming speech by Dr Rolandas Vitkūnas, Director of the College. At the opening event, all student teams were introduced to the challenges they were going to face throughout the week. On the second day of the Innovation Week, Grėtė Lelė, the Adviser to the Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Innovation, visited VTDK and inspired the students with her presentation. The event was also attended by the chairman of the study programme committee of Graphic Design of the Faculty of Design, Jonas Malinauskas, who, together with the graphic design students, presented their work on the topic of climate change. The winning student teams, “Fabrum” and “Innovators”, came up with ideas for mobile apps to coordinate the activities of the Lithuanian Red Cross and to assess the sustainability of the College community.

Targeted work with foreign partners is enabling the College to strengthen the capacity of its staff and students in the field of innovation transfer within the project “Innovation Laboratories for Climate Actions” (ILCA) launched in 2022, funded by the EIT Climate-KIC EIT HEI Initiative. In 2023, the College will set up an Innovation Lab for Climate Actions, whose activities will be closely linked to addressing the challenges faced by SMEs in the region in the area of Materials and SolutionsIn for Decarbonisation.
